ESTABLISHING A LEGACY

KANSAS PRESERVATION ALLIANCE, INC.

A bequest is one of the most forthright ways to support the work of the Kansas Preservation Alliance, Inc.  Through your will, you can leave cash, securities, objects or real estate as a living legacy to the Kansas statewide preservation organization and help KPA continue its vital efforts.  Moreover, bequests to the Kansas Preservation Alliance can significantly reduce your estate taxes.

Here are some of the different ways in which you can arrange for a bequest to KPA along with sample bequest language.  You should consult with your financial or legal advisor before making a planned gift.

SPECIFIC BEQUEST

You may choose to bequeath a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your total estate, or particular securities or other property.

I hereby bequeath to the Kansas Preservation Alliance in the United States the sum of $____________ (or) the following property:  (insert description of property) for the benefit of the organization.

RESIDUARY BEQUEST

Through a residuary bequest, you may contribute to the Kansas Preservation Alliance all or a portion of the sum remaining in your estate after the payment of all expenses and any specific bequests to other beneficiaries.

After payment of all just expenses of my estate and all specific bequests, I hereby bequeath the sum of __________________ dollars, or all of the rest residue, and remainder of my estate, to the Kansas Preservation Alliance in the United States for the benefit of the organization.

CONTINGENT BEQUEST

A contingent bequest of a specific amount, or all of a portion of your estate, will be realized by the Kansas Preservation Alliance only in the event that the primary beneficiary or beneficiaries of your estate do not survive you.

If the above-named beneficiaries should predecease me, then I bequeath to the Kansas Preservation Alliance in the United States such property of my estate as had been intended for such persons.

ENDOWMENT GIFTS

You may prefer to have your gift become a part of the Kansas Preservation Alliance’s permanent endowment, forever associating your name (or another person you would like to honor) with the ongoing work of KPA.

I hereby bequeath to the Kansas Preservation Alliance in the United States the sum of $___________ (or percentage of the total estate, or specific assets, etc.) to benefit the Kansas Preservation Alliance’s Unrestricted Endowment.

The principal of this gift shall be held and may be mingled with other funds of the Kansas Preservation Alliance in accordance with the organization’s general investment guidelines.  The net income shall be used for the general purposes of the Kansas Preservation Alliance (or state specific purpose).
